This Mercedes-Benz Doesn't Look Like Any Luxury Coach Bus We've Ever Seen

We have seen the three-pointed star brand dip its toes into just about anything moving on the street – from little Smart cars to hugely renowned Actros trucks. And, although it’s renowned across the world for luxury cars, it’s been constantly pushing the envelope in just about every automotive sector.

Just imagine seeing the EQC 4x4² fully electric concept morph into production, or the GenH2 Truck fuel-cell heavy-duty commercial truck coming to life next year, not sometime after 2025. Or, perhaps, travelling to a European vacation destination once life returns to normal and jumping at the airport inside the eCitaro G, the world’s first solid-state battery EV.

Now take all the surprises, combine them, and multiply that by a factor of at least ten. Now, serve us that on a silver plateau for a couple of days straight. That’s what it would take to make us easily recover our jaws off the floor after seeing the Mercedes-Benz Horizon Liner concept’s video (embedded below) presented by the FastCarCommunity YouTube channel.

The only reason we’re not running around screaming Eureka! just like Archimedes did in Ancient Greece is that we’re well versed in the Internet way of turning every fantasy into a virtual reality. Actually, we need to apologize for letting this one slip under our radar, since the creator - Janis Ufheil – has been proudly displaying the idea on his Instagram account for a while now.

Well, no one is omniscient (not yet anyway – or so we think), which is why we decided to adopt the better late than never philosophy on this occasion. There isn’t much to discuss about the Mercedes-Benz Horizon Liner, other than explaining that Ufheil has created the concept as his Bachelor of Arts thesis while studying Transportation Interior Design.

He developed the idea in cooperation with EvoBus... and that’s about all the information we’re given. As far as we can tell, it’s a futuristic version of a luxurious coach bus that’s playing with the idea of lounge on wheels. It’s only that while others are usually doing it on a mini level, he is envisioning the whole thing on a little more grandiose of scales...
