A second trailer for the film “Captain Phillips” has been released online, offering another glimpse into the maritime industries’ most anticipated film of 2013. The film, starring Tom Hanks as Captain Richard Phillips, tells the real-life story of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S.-flagged MV Maersk Alabama by Somali pirates.

The ship was the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years and made international headlines when the pirates took Captain Phillips hostage onboard a lifeboat for days before… well we won’t spoil the ending but you can read gCaptain’s full coverage of the incident HERE.
The film is directed by British director Paul Greengrass (of the Bourne trilogy and United 93). ”Captain Phillips” is set to be released in theaters October 11, 2013 in the U.S. For worldwide release dates, see HERE.
