a dream come true

2013 Harley Davidson

The popularity of Harley Davidson in the world is undeniable. Their bikes can be defined not only as a means of transport but as a lifestyle. But while the Peruvians are not unaware of his fame , compared with other countries , ours does not have an official dealership . So how do the " Harlistas " of Peru to keep alive his passion ?

To answer this question , we spoke with the leaders of some local Harley Davidson groups . Brave amateurs Percy the Christian Motorcyclists Association , Piero Sabroso, Renegade , Ruben Davila, Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club of Peru , Ricardo Leon, Brotherhood and Manuel Ponce , of Chuzcos , shared his perspective.

He began importing

Contrary to what you might think , in our country itself there was an official dealer of the American brand . According to Ruben Davila , the company has been present in Peru from 1996 to 2000. Although the ' dealer ' disappeared , was the hobby . He recalls that in those times came both police motorcycles and civilians . In total there were 80 or 90 harleys in the market. It should be noted that there are currently 350 of these vehicles nationwide.

Another Harlista Peruvian reminiscent of the beginning of the passion these bikes is Piero Tasty Milwaukee . He tells us that after the dealership closed in the country some enthusiasts - is included - began importing Harley Davidson to Peru . He adds that the total, about 70% , are brought by companies engaged in that business and the remaining 30 is imported by all who want a Harley .

Price, parts and time

When asked how much help a dealership Harley in Peru , Percy Valiente told us that this would promote the love for these bikes . He said that would significantly reduce the price of these vehicles , then bring yourself is very expensive .

One of the biggest obstacles to these harleys lovers must surely be the subject of spares . And in fact, have only one shop specializing in these bikes , which in turn has the assistance of the U.S. dealer . However, to Ricardo León brotherhood between them is vital , because if you do not find a piece can be a mechanic from the have or help you import .

For his part, Manuel Ponce tells us that time is another factor that uncomfortable. He had to wait eight months to bring your Harley Davidson . Adds that one does not have the parts you need when you need them , because although there are enthusiasts who import new parts , it sometimes happens that you require are not and you're left with the bike stop for a while .
