[Refer “Boats with an Open Mind” (Bolger, 1994) Chapter 36, p179] Craftsman-built by Bruce Tyson (Tasmania) 1998. Solidly constructed, strip-planked Celery-Top Pine (epoxy glued with bronze screw edge-fastenings). Laminated Tasmanian Oak frames. All timbers epoxy-saturated, or coated, during construction. Built to last forever.
Easy maintenance enamel exterior finishes. Beautiful clear-varnished timber interior. Bronze and gun-metal deck fittings. A real little ship! Yanmar diesel twin-cylinder (2GM20) runs/look near new. Cruises at diesel-sipping 5 kts, with top speed 6+ kts.
Less than 200 hours use during first 10 years, and less than 50 hours since (estimated). Single sail is a 200 sq ft loose-footed dipping lugsail (tan colour in excellent condition) hoisted on a 12′ yard.
Work completed over last two years ensures Merlin is operating and performing better than he/she ever has, ensuring years of safe and trouble-free motorsailing. Nothing to spend. Email for more info and/or photos. Will need to arrange own shipping etc. $25,000(AUS)
